Equal Exchange/Fair Trade Mission: Now is the time to plan for
giving gift baskets for the Holidays to your coffee/tea/chocolate loving
friends/family. There will be 2 more orders going in - November 1st
and December 1st-before Christmas. Order your coffee, tea, or
chocolate items ASAP. If you need ideas for baskets, see Jan Verbeek.
This is a gift that "keeps on giving" - you help the low income farmers
and delight your family and friends. Thank you for your support of
our mission!
CALENDARS on sale now for 2009? : Do you need a calendar for
the new year? You can get one at the church! The youth of Team
4:12 are selling calendars to help support their ministry. Wall
calendars are available for $10, and pocket/purse calendars are on
sale for $5.
Quarterly Statements: Please pick up your quarterly statement that is
located in the narthex.
The Youth Christmas Program is scheduled for December 14th! We
would appreciate donations of the following - Costumes that resemble
toys for children in Kindergarten - 5th grade (for example, costumes that
look like stuffed animals, dolls, Buzz Lightyear-type, etc.), large styrofoam
pieces, large boxes, and extra wrapping paper. Please leave donations in
the Creation Station or contact Nicole Hunter or Marcy Miles with any
questions. Practices start next Sunday during Sunday School (on
November 2nd.) Additional practices will be scheduled on Saturdays and
Wednesday nights. A practice schedule and music CD will be distributed
soon. If you haven't already completed a Sunday School registration form
for this school year, please fill out the forms on the table in the hallway
between the Office and the Fellowship Hall so that we have the correct
contact information for your family. E-mail is the quickest way to
communicate changes to the practice schedule so please provide your
preferred e-mail address in case of changes due to weather problems.
Tell Them Thanks: Once again the "Let's Tell Them Thanks"
Committee will be sending packages to soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan
for Thanksgiving. We need to have the names and addresses of soldiers
with a Gretna connection. Please contact Cindy at the church office at
332-3213 or Karen Zoerb 332-3320 with the name of any relative you
may have serving there now. After compiling the names, we will be
seeking contributions for postage and donations of items needed by the
soldiers. If you would be interested in helping with this project, let us
know. Thank you.
Name Tags: Anyone wishing to purchase a name tag please sign-up
on the sheet in the narthex. Cost will be $4.00 per tag. If you already
have one don't forget to wear them on Sunday mornings. The
new members and guests will appreciate it! We will place an order
the middle of October.
