About us

Our Mission & Vision

Our mission is to be a community of Christian faith Where God’s Family Grows Together through genuine connection, inspiring worship, meaningful service, and Christ-centered education and activities.

Where – “Where” is more than a building. While our church is a wonderful place to gather on Sundays, it is also a community of faith that lives out Christ’s teachings every day. We serve our local community, the greater Omaha area, our state, and the world.

God’s – We recognize that we belong to God. He knows each of us by name and even knows the number of hairs on our heads. We are bound together by His love for us and our love for Him. Our church is not owned by people; we are claimed by God.

Family – Family extends beyond blood and marriage. Jesus taught that His family includes those who do the will of God. Our church family includes traditional and blended families, grandparents, single parents, single adults, widows, and widowers. Everyone is invited to be part of God’s family at Gretna United Methodist Church.

Grows – Growth means more than increasing the number of people who attend worship or participate in our programs. It also means growing in faith, deepening our relationship with Christ, and increasing our service to Christ and His creation.

Together – We are not alone on our journey of faith. We walk together, bearing one another’s burdens and supporting Christians in our community and around the world. While we value the traditions and teachings of our denomination, we also appreciate the unique gifts of other Christian denominations in our community. We strive to work alongside them as servants of Christ.

Our vision is to be a Christian community where all families are connected, nurtured, and strengthened.

At Gretna United Methodist Church, we believe in one loving God—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe in Jesus Christ as our Savior and Lord, the Holy Spirit as our guide, and the Bible as the foundation of our faith. We believe the church is called to share God’s love, help people grow in faith, and serve others. Through baptism and Holy Communion, we celebrate God’s grace and our connection to Christ and one another. We welcome all who wish to grow in faith and share in God’s love.
