Connect, grow & serve
There are many ways to connect, grow, serve, and share at Gretna United Methodist Church. Explore the ministries and programs below to find opportunities to build relationships, grow in faith, care for others, and make a difference in our church and community.

Care & Support
We help members of our church family feel remembered, supported, and connected. Members visit those who are unable to attend worship in person, including those in nursing homes or hospitals. They also provide meals for families welcoming a new baby or those who could use extra support during a difficult or busy season. Hospitality is an important part of our community, with coffee and donuts after worship and occasional potlucks that bring everyone together.

Children's Ministry
Our Children's Ministry provides opportunities for kids to connect with one another and become an active part of our church. Sunday School is offered during worship for children from preschool through elementary school, and the Toy Zone provides a welcoming space for infants and toddlers. Children also participate in worship through songs, Scripture, skits, and other activities. Each summer, Vacation Bible School brings children together for Bible lessons, music, activities, and fellowship in a fun and welcoming setting.

Missions & Outreach
Our church looks for ways to serve others and make a difference in our community and beyond. We partner with Heartland Hope Food Pantry and Gretna Neighbors Food Pantry to help support local families in need. Through Bless the Badge, we also show appreciation for our local firefighters by providing snacks and care packages. These efforts give our church opportunities to put faith into action and serve others with God's love.

Worship & Music
Worship is at the heart of our church community. Members can serve in many ways, including joining the choir or bell choir, serving as ushers, greeters, attendance takers, and sound and computer volunteers. Members can also help serve communion or volunteer with the Chancel Guild, which helps prepare the sanctuary and change the parament colors for each week. Through these opportunities, we come together to worship God and share our gifts with one another.

Youth Ministry
Our Youth Ministry provides a place for middle school, high school, and college students to connect, grow in faith, and build friendships. Each month, youth take part in Youth Sunday, helping lead worship by serving as ushers, greeters, attendance takers, and sound and computer volunteers. Through gatherings, activities, service opportunities, and other experiences, youth and young adults are encouraged to grow in their relationship with God and become an active part of our church community.
