No In-Person worship before Thanksgiving

11/3/2020

Friends,
As you know we have suspended in-person worship over the past few weeks with the hope of getting back together sometime in November. Unfortunately, due to significant increases in new case rates in our surrounding community as well as increasing cases and severity of cases within our own congregation, WE WILL NOT BE RETURNING TO IN-PERSON WORSHIP BEFORE THANKSGIVING.

I want to assure you that, while we can't make any promises, we are doing more than hoping to be able to return to in-person worship for Advent and Christmas Eve. We are exploring new ways of managing numbers, disinfecting, and other factors that will increase our chances of safely gathering. Again, we do not know what the situation will look like by Thanksgiving so we can't guarantee anything beyond that we are trying.

In the meantime, please continue to join us on facebook or our website (gretnaumc.com/worship) every Sunday at 9:30am and Wednesday at noon. Also, please continue to reach out to each other, to pray for one another, and to inform us here at the office if there is anything we can do to support you or your neighbors during these trying times.

We will get through this y'all, with God and with each other.

Your brother on the journey,
Pastor Brian

In Person Services temporarily suspended.

10/20/2020

Friends,
The week before last we announced that, while we had several members of our community test positive for COVID-19 who had attended September 27th but had not attended on October 4th.  I said that as long as positive cases were limited to that one Sunday we could continue to gather for Sunday morning worship and if we became aware of a positive case in someone who attended after the 27th we would have to postpone in person services.

Unfortunately, we have learned of two people in attendance since September 27th who have tested positive for COVID.  This means we will be suspending in-person worship.  For now our goal is to take 2 Sundays off (Sundays, October 18 and 25) and return to in-person services on Sunday, November 1st, however we need to remain flexible as the ongoing situation within our church community and the community around us will determine whether or not we are able to return safely in November.

In the meantime, we will continue to stream Sunday morning worship on our Facebook page and our website.  If you cannot access these online services please contact the office and we will make figure out a way to accommodate you.  We will also continue to allow outside gathering and gathering of fewer than 10 people at the church with the expectation that everyone will wear their masks and practice social distancing.

Please continue to pray for one another, for Gretna United Methodist Church, and for the greater area we serve. We love you and need you take care of yourselves so we can all take care of each other.

Be well y'all,
Pastor Brian
